Most managers are set up to fail. 60% do. We’ve coached 1,400 who chose differently. | Co-Founder, MGMT Accelerator & Fundamentals linkedin.com/in/marsdenkline

Most managers are firefighters. The best ones are also fans.

All week long, we swoop in when things break. How do you show up when people are winning?

I'm not a huge baseball fan, but this cartoon stopped my scroll. "I just think it would be nice

if you visited when I was doing well, too."

We've trained ourselves to be crisis managers. Problem solvers. Your presence becomes associated with problems. Your absence means everything's fine.

The most valuable thing I learned in 100-hour weeks:

You can expect great work and celebrate the little wins along the way. Both things can be true. When someone delivers excellent work, shine a light on it.

It doesn't lower the bar. It fuels performance.

Remember:

Everyone is working on something. Developing a new skill takes time. Acknowledge that you see someone investing in change. Don't walk past teammates' quiet work.

Your job isn't just to catch errors. Start hunting wins. Encourage the behaviors you want to see repeated.

One way to habit stack:

Make time in your 1:1 to celebrate what's working well. Excellent work might be the expectation. You can still celebrate it.
