In most cases, references should not be on a resume. Once you provide references to a potential employer, you are giving the okay for that company to contact them. That might not work to your advantage in all cases. For example, if you provide three references and the company calls them, these are three conversations going on about you that you are not participating in. Of course, people give references that they think will help them, but the missing part of that equation is that you do not know the exact questions the company will ask. You are losing control of the process. Create a separate document for your references and use when needed. Never give the company more references than they ask for. If they ask for two, give them two, do not give them three.
